Define the decision crisply

You are not deciding "do we use AI." You are deciding who owns the iteration loop on your first AI feature for the next 18 months. That's the actual question, and reframing it that way kills most of the noise.

Before the framework: there is a single question that overrides cost, speed, and team-building philosophy.

Is this AI capability on your product's critical differentiation path?

Forever. Every weekly experiment, every model retraining decision, every "what if we tried…" loop runs at vendor cadence, not yours.
